The Continuing Adventures of Shoe Girl

Volume 3, Chapter 1
Do the Hue

Are you feelin’ the winter blues?  Grey skies and icky weather making it hard to crawl out of bed in the morning?  Can’t wait for spring?  Guess what?  Target already has bathing suits.  The mall is gearing up for the Easter Bunny.  And department stores?  The colors this season are sure to put a spring in your step!

I walked into Kohl’s recently and was pleasantly surprised at the neon pastels (yeah, I know, but that’s what they were!).  Skinny jeans in an array of great colors caught my eye.  Think “Easter colors with a kick.”  It made me forget that winter was waiting for me back outside!

I’ve been taking Zumba classes for a couple years now (“Join the party!”) and noticed recently that sneakers have gotten really fun.  Check out these ASICS GEL-Frantic 7 High Performance Running shoes for $84.99.

Why NOT dress your feet in flare to go to the gym or out for a run?  They are right on trend with all the different colors, too.

Skechers also has a bunch of new sneakers that are crazy colors like New Vision for $54.99 and Gratis Purestreet for $59.99.

Go wild!  When you have shoes like these, you can’t wait to slip ’em on and get it done!  Run some errands ~ or a few miles ~ and do it in style!

SO Floral Wedge Sneaker ($59)

SO Floral Wedge Sneaker ($59)

Another trend I have noticed is the wedge sneaker.  Yes, it’s as weird as it sounds and, yes, they mostly look like something you might need in a ridiculous dance battle.  But then I found these:  SO Floral Wedge Sneakers.

They are reminiscent of my trusty Keds.  They’ve got some girly flowery touch; but they’ve also got some “wedge edge.”

These are a great way to try out the trend without feeling like you need a dance crew to back you up.  They could easily be paired with any of the brightly colored skinny jeans I previously mentioned or could simply stand as their own colorful accessory.

The hidden 3″ heel isn’t over the top, but it’s enough make a statement and priced at just $59.99.

Kennedy by Apt. 9 ($59)

Kennedy by Apt. 9 ($59)

Bright colors are everywhere, so you might want to tone things down a bit with “Kennedy” by Apt. 9.  They come in four great colors (black, coral, cream, mint) and have a cute cutout pattern all around.

These would be really fun paired with skinny jeans and a simple top, or with an Easter sundress.  Heel height is 4 3/4″, with a platform of 1 1/4″ and a price point of $59.99.

LC Lauren Conrad Ballet Flats ($49)

LC Lauren Conrad Ballet Flats ($49)

These LC Lauren Conrad Ballet Flats almost seem like the shorter sister shoe to the previous pumps.

Available in aqua, black, cream, and peach, they also offer a cute cutout pattern all around.  Plus, there’s a subtle snake print pattern that keeps these flats interesting.  What wouldn’t these shoes go with?  And the price is right at just $49.99.

Whether you’ve got plans for Easter brunch or some time at the gym, you can do it in brilliant colors.  Even if you are simply window shopping, let those sweet candy colors inspire you!

I hate to admit it, but some of those sneakers might actually put some joy in my workout! Great post!

  2. Jennifer says

I’m seriously considering those floral wedge sneaks just for fun!

  3. Cat says

Oooooo, I am loving all those bright, happy sneakers! It’s time for a new pair of dog-walkin’ shoes and I think I’m gonna go bright!

  4. Kelli says

Great feedback! Normally I’d love a sneaker that color, but it might make me self conscious. But they are EVERYWHERE! Sometimes it’s a little easier to go wild when you know you won’t be the only one. Enjoy!

  5. Gabrielle says

I think with all the bright happy spring colors in clothing, the colorful sneaks wouldn’t stand out so much. Pairing them with dull black or grey workout clothes will just draw attention to them… as some people might enjoy. With my size 10 shoes, I’d want them to blend in with adorable bright prints and such! If they make you happy, there’s no such thing as self conscious!

  6. Gabrielle says

M’kay, I am here to report that the brightly colored sneakers do, in fact, make ones attitude better whilst working out. (Or at least on the treadmill) New pink punch and orange ones for me!

  7. Cat says

That’s fantastic, Gabrielle! I am planning a shopping excursion this weekend and bright, happy sneakers are on my list. Morning dog walks are about to get even more fun!
