Ode To Black Friday Associates
by Kelli Leach
Please be nice to your sales associate,
She’s been here since 3 am — she’s over it.
So many people at a time….
Just take a breath and wait in line.
Don’t roll your eyes; don’t tap your feet.
She’ll help you last if you’re not sweet.
She knows you just want the very best deal.
You were out at midnight — that is clear.
She’s gonna ring you up as fast as she can.
But give her a second, someone took her pen….
Oh, she found it! (Who writes checks on Black Friday?
People, invest in a check card already!)
Back to the grind, not a second to waste.
Everything, today, is really fast-paced!
“Excuse me, ma’am, can you price check these shoes?”
“Which of these billion coupons to use?”
“Did I miss out on your early specials?”
“Lady, I don’t want my bag so full!”
“Thirty-nine, ninety-nine.”
“You can only use one at a time.”
“No early specials; they last all day.”
“I only have two sizes, okay?”
So please be patient; be thoughtful; be kind.
Your sales associate is probably tired.

Kelli Leach is a crazy cat lady ~ with good fashion sense.
She never misses an episode of Castle or Modern Family, and is very fond of naps.
In her spare time off the couch she enjoys keeping a diary, belly dancing at UNCA and going out on the town.
The words she lives by? “Hakuna Matata.”
This is great – thanks for posting!
Haha, thanks for posting! The poem you posted for Thanksgiving inspired me to write out what was on my mind. I hope you had a great Turkey Day!
