Nivea’s Kiss a Keeper

If you read the little blog post Kiss This One Off, you know I’m always on the lookout for a great moisturizing lip balm.  Last week I picked up a fat blue tube of Nivea “A Kiss of Smoothness” Hydrating Lip Care (SPF4).  Just six days later, I’m fully impressed. Nivea’s Kiss is a nourishing lip product that glides on gently, evenly and (as the name suggests) smoothly.  The balm is easily delivered into lip lines, mimicking the texture of {Read More}

The Skinny on Pepsi’s Push

Pepsi and I have always been just a bit out of sync. I was never part of the original “Pepsi Generation.”  I’m a Gen X-er (albeit, by the skin of my teeth) and, therefore, missed that particular demographic by a few years. I also missed the “New Pepsi Generation” campaign, a bit too old that time around. During my heyday, it was all about the Pepsi Challenge.  I took the taste test — and chose Coke. When I was a pre-teen, {Read More}

Kiss This One Off

As a little girl growing up in western New York, Winter provided plenty of snow and biting winds. The walk to and from school coupled with outside play time resulted in dry, chapped lips.  Mine were perpetually raw.  Though Mom slathered me with creams and balms, nothing really seemed to help except a little Vaseline.  Well, actually, a lot of Vaseline. The lip situation is under control these days, though still a bit of a battle during the colder months.  {Read More}

The Lazy Vegetarian

I first became a vegetarian at the age of seventeen.  Initially I cut red meat and pork from my diet and within a couple of months I gave up poultry, as well.  Fish was never an issue because I didn’t eat in in the first place — I never could stand seafood because I cannot abide the smell. One might think this meant that I had a pretty healthful diet, but sadly, no.  I was a “vegetarian” because I didn’t {Read More}

Are those Pomelos; Or are You Just Happy to See Me?

They’re back! And to celebrate, we revisit an early post. Enjoy! ~ Jennifer I love veggies. I’d like to tell you that I eat them for the health of it; but the truth is I like the way they taste. I’ll eat anything green and leafy, go back for seconds and, once the table is cleared, polish off any additional stems and leaves — all before the dishwasher soap dispenser pops open, heralding the wash cycle. It’s fair to say {Read More}

Just for the Health of It

This little cheat sheet recently appeared in Glamour magazine.  I’d never seen the basics described so simply.  If you’re not doing these six things, you’re just not living well.

Under-Where?

My underwear is no longer functioning properly.  I am the constant victim of self-inflicted wedgies.  I don’t have to bend over to get them, either; sitting is sufficient.  This has nothing to do with the recent Holiday season; I’ve been enjoying myself with abandon — yes, abandon — for years. After much thought and consideration, it’s clear my eating habits have not changed.  I eat pretty much whatever I want, whenever I want, and call it “plus maintenance.”  And so {Read More}

Nesting

Greetings and salutations! Welcome to …a little blog told me, 2011. Thanks so much for visiting the little blog nest throughout the year — and for sharing this site with friends. Heartfelt thanks to those of you who wrote with kind kudos on various features. It was wonderful to hear from you, little blog readers, and to know that my folly was yours. As you may have guessed from posts dated late December, I was chillaxing a bit, enjoying family {Read More}

More Reasons to Just Do It

We’re all somewhat familiar with the health benefits of aerobic exercise.  But did you know that moving regularly can slow down the aging process, too? I found this terrific graphic in More Magazine.  Now that’s pure inspiration.

The New Neutral

I’m not what you would call a “sporty girl.”  Though reasonably coordinated and, in certain situations, able to pull off “graceful,” I’m not exactly athletic.  This is the direct result of my extreme aversion to sweat…. I was energetic throughout childhood, but refrained from activities involving contact with other sweaty bodies.  Team sports was definitely not my thing. In later years, and for most of my adult life, I avoided pursuits with the potential to result in anything more than {Read More}
